Books of Politics

Each book is one that I read and would recommend to others. A few of these books have been published several times and re-copyrighted (some became available in paperback); the year shown below is sometimes the initial date of publication, not the latest, or it is the date for the edition I obtained. I have certainly not read them in this order and usually the book is out a while before I obtain a copy. Within any year of publication the books are listed in the order they were read.

I have a comment about the book Democracy by Mr Hoppe.  Though the book was first published in 2001 I did not read it until February 2005. It is just incredible how his prediction that a democratic republic like America will continue toward more state power and further economic and moral decay has come to pass so quickly in just those four years under the Bush administration.

I read the book The Reformation over the summer of 2005. Though the book is huge, I strongly recommend it, both for understanding the events and actions of the time (1490 to 1700) and for appreciating the interaction between the Christian religions and Western life. Perhaps another upheaval of the Christian religions will occur; those that forget or ignore history might be doomed to repeat it. I read the book The Meek and the Militant a little later. It offers a different perspective on the historical analysis of the evolution of religions, including the changes in social order as well as the interaction between the state and the local religions, whether of the majority or minority. There is a constructive overlap between the two books regarding the Reformation.
